Is the water provided at the conference filtered?

The hotel water is filtered.

Will I need a jacket indoors at the hotel?

We recommend you bring a jacket as we cannot regulate the hotel’s air conditioning unit.

Meals

Which meals are included in the full registration package?

Full registration includes lunch on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and dinner on Friday and Saturday (Saturday is the Awards Banquet). Breakfast is not included but can be purchased separately.

Will you have a Thursday night dinner?

We will not be offering a dinner on Thursday night. We encourage people who come early to go in groups to local restaurants. We will have a list of restaurants available.

Do you offer gluten-free meals?

All meals are gluten-free with the exception of sourdough bread which is served at most meals.

Is there a vegetarian option available in your meal plan?

All meals are Weston A. Price-focused which includes some form of animal product at each meal. Plus we cook vegetables in animal fat. We do not offer special vegetarian meals or other special meals. We do, however, offer a reduced registration price which excludes the meals. You can then bring your own meals or eat at the hotel restaurant.

What do people wear for the banquet?

Because we have declared 2026 the “year of butter”, we ask that people wear something yellow to the banquet. Besides that, some people get very dressed up and some wear the same casual clothes they had on all day. Either way is fine but we enjoy and encourage people to dress up as it adds to the festive spirit of the evening.

Registration

Why is the conference so expensive?

We acknowledge that people invest a lot of money to attend the conference by the time you pay registration, travel and accommodations. We cannot help with the price of travel and the hotel, but we have kept the price of registration as low as possible. The amount has been increased only slightly since 2011.

We also offer seventy volunteer spots which offers a discounted registration rate of $300 in exchange for six hours of work.  See: wisetraditions.org/volunteer

For non-profits or small farms and food producers, we have a low exhibit rate. And even for others our rate is relatively low to exhibit. See: wisetraditions.org/exhibit

If the price of attending is prohibitive, please consider purchasing the live stream/on demand recordings and even hosting a gathering to watch the conference live. Some people have done this as a potluck bringing WAPF-friendly foods to share. See: wisetraditions.org/recordings

What’s your cancellation policy?

See: wisetraditions.org/cancellation-policy

Sessions

Schedule: wisetraditions.org/schedule

I see 3-4 sessions listed under each time slot; can you tell me a bit more about how the conference works?

In each time slot, we have 3-4 different talks. We suggest you review the program in advance so that you know which session you want to attend. If you start in one but prefer to switch to another one, that is fine.

Will the conference be recorded?

All sessions will be recorded and available for purchase through our third-party vendor Fleetwood Onsite Conference Recording.

If you purchase the live stream, the link will be sent prior to the conference so that you can view the talks that are being shown during the conference. One talk for each session will be live-streamed and all talks will be recorded and included as part of the full recording package. Please allow 2 months for Fleetwood Onsite Conference Recording to prepare the recordings and deliver them.

Do the sessions fill up quickly?

We suggest arriving early at each session to ensure good seating. Although we try to predict which talks need the largest rooms, we are not always accurate and sometimes rooms get crowded.

How long after the conference will the speaker’s slides be available on your website?

We put them up after the conference as quickly as we can. Unfortunately, we do not receive many. Not all speakers wish to share their slides. But the ones we have, we will post.

Exhibitors

What is included in each level of exhibiting?

For details, please see: wisetraditions.org/exhibit

Have you thoroughly vetted your exhibitors?

We have vetted our exhibitors. However, some products may slip through and we recommend that you check ingredient lists and use your judgement. If you see a product that is problematic, please report this to the registration desk. We are not responsible for your purchases if you find that the product is not as you hoped.

Do you have discounts for any vendors?

For non-profits or small farms and food producers, we have a low exhibit rate. Plus there is an opportunity to barter food to pay for your exhibit spot. And even for others our rate is relatively low to exhibit. See: wisetraditions.org/exhibit

Children

What do you offer for children?

We have a children’s program for ages (potty trained) 3-12.

See: wisetraditions.org/children

Young people 13 and older can attend the regular sessions. Also, children 2 and under can attend regular sessions. We will be offering a room for live streaming one session per day. We ask that parents of young children who are being noisy enough to distract others, go to that room with their child. People make much effort and cost to attend the conference and we want to make sure they can hear the speakers.

Each day we have a track of practical talks. We recommend those for teens and anyone who is new to this information.

Farm Day

How old do you have to be to attend the farm day?

12 and older.

What time will the farm day on Monday begin and end back at the hotel?

6:30 am (gather at lobby) – 6:30 pm (return to hotel). Please plan your travel accordingly. Details are here: wisetraditions.org/farm-visit

What food will be available during the farm day?

We will have morning snacks available as you first load the bus (it will be something like nuts, hard boiled egg, fruit). We will also have a full lunch. Please bring a water bottle. We will have water for refilling.

If the farm day sells out, is there a waiting list?

Yes, email us to be added to the waiting list: info@westonaprice.org

Can people follow the bus to the farms in their own car?

We do not allow this as the farms are small and we are already bringing two buses. To attend the farm day, you must travel on the bus.

Will we be walking on the farms or riding a wagon?

You will have to be able to walk on the farms. Farm land is uneven and rocky at times. If you have trouble walking, we're sorry but this may not be the trip for you.
